4 Pack of Homyhoo Potato Grow Bags
Fabric grow bags are much better at controlling the temperature and water content of your growing medium than traditional plastic pots. In the cold, the fabric will keep your plant warmer, and in the hot sun your plant will be kept cooler, so it doesn’t overheat. (ps: fabric bags may need more frequent watering, it’s because of the porous material which is less likely to hold in excess water as the old plastic pot materials do.)
Planting Tips
1. Moisten the soil and compost mix thoroughly. Fill about 1/3 full (6″-8″ deep) with a 50/50 mixture of garden soil and compost.
2. Evenly space 3 to 5 seed potatoes and/or pieces (“eyes up” ) and cover with 3 inches of soil.
3. As the potatoes continue growing, continue adding soil/compost mix until you reach the top of the grow bag.
4. Water regularly. During hot and dry summer days, potato plants should be watered once every 2 to 3 days. During cooler days with rainfall, potatoes may not need watering at all.
5. Look for signs when the leaves start yellowing and the stems wilt. Then stop watering and wait a week or two. Potatoes are ready for harvesting when more than 50% of the leaves have turned yellow.
Air Pruning Function
Fabric grow bags help to alleviate the issue because as the roots meet the edges of the fabric pot, they sense the drier soil that is exposed to the air. At this point, they know they have reached their growth limit. The roots become “air pruned” which is vital to growing healthy plants in containers. You will also get many more fibrous roots when air pruned. A more fibrous root system (many small root tips) allows the plants to take in more nutrients and water.

They are good quality and look smart in the garden. They are much taller than they are wide: think hardware store bucket. That’s good for tubers like potatoes, but a bit of a waste of soil for things like eggplants. I rolled the sides town to make slightly shallower pots for my other veggies.

I am able to plant vegetables which have plenty of space to grow large because of the size of the bags. Easy to harvest potatoes due to the velcro door on the side

First time using grow bags for part of my Garden and so far so good! Potatoes and carrots are growing well. I would have liked to have picked all black bags bc the gray ones “stain” from the dirt and water. Overall great purchase! Be sure to have them in place for growth cycle bc they get heavy to move.

`Got them for growing my sweet potatoes and potatoes. Late going in I’ll just bring inside to kitchen during coldest weather. The science of growing potatoes is actually fun! And these are perfect. We have monsoon down here. Couple winters ago it rotted my tubers. I have one started with the fabric rolled down. Added some soil and was trying to carefully blend it in when I felt potatoes already. Very surprised. It hasn’t seemed to grow since transplanting a tiny 3 leaf potato plant, but apparently it;s growing potatoes already. I’ll add soil as it grows and roll the fabric back up. What an absolutely clever idea for tubers.
