Fantastic remote and works perfectly. Easy to use and saves a ton of time when turning on your sprinkler in the spring or shutting down in the fall. You can go zone by zone and check all the sprinkler heads without having to run back and forth to the controller. Also great if you just want to run one zone that is particularly exposed to the sun at the end of the day without having to set up a program in your controller. The only challenge as other reviews noted is that it does not come with all you need to mount the receiver. There are several videos on YouTube that show you some options and there are other options in the Amazon reviews. I did not want to rewire the whole controller box to mount it on the pvc that comes out of the bottom. I opted to mount it on the top of the box which made the wiring easy and also put it in a better position for reception. I made sure to put a rubber gasket on the mount to help with water getting in the controller. Overall a great product.

I should have purchased this a long time ago. It saves so much time and aggravation. We have 28 zones spread over 3 acres. This product is simple and intuitive and does exactly what you need to do – nothing less, nothing more. I was concerned about interference and range because my irrigation controller is mounted on the far side of my house between a 200 amp electrical panel and two aluminum downspouts and the property elevation change is about 100 feet, but I have had no problems at 300+ feet distance from controller. I installed the SmartPort connector directly on the top right hand side of the irrigation controller cabinet to avoid cutting pvc and disconnecting and reconnecting all the zone control wires. It was a very tight fit, because all four control modules are installed in the cabinet.

I have a Hu tee Pro C with the old style remote control set up. It worked, but the range of the remote was truly terrible. I read about this Humter remote set up, and based on all of the solid reviews decided to give it a shot. I am so happy I purchased the ROAM KIT. Awesome in every regard from ease of set up, to using the remote. The remote comes set up so that stations run a 2 minute program as a default, but you can easily increase the run time from the remote. The changes you make to the run to,e from the remote will not change the run times programmed on your controller set up. Finally the range..A+++..I can now control my zones from the furthest outside corners of my yard, front and back, without any issues, So very pleased with this unit, and you will be too.

Installed so easily – 3 wires from the remote receiver to hook up to 3 screw terminals in the controller box, turn on the remote, and use it. I was able to each zone on and off to one by one as I watched to check if everything was still good after the winter. So MUCH better than running back and forth to the controller in the garage for each zone. Only complaint is that the kit should include a wall mount (for use if wall mounting the receiver module) and an electrical fitting nut (if mounting directly to one of the knock-outs on the controller box).

Installing this onto my sprinkler control box was easy. My irrigation company left a connector in place as they use the same unit when they service my system. It is nice to be able to manually run any station or any program with the remote. It is very convenient for me to control each station while walking my spacious yard instead of running back and forth to the control box. If you can afford this remote control setup and it is compatible with your system, I recommend purchasing this unit – especially if you have a large area that is covered by your sprinkler system. It will save you a lot of time.

My ROAM kit arrived today and I installed it on my Hunter ICC-800 controller. The ICC controller is set up for 20 zones and 4 programs (A, B, C, D) with a total of 137 water nozzles. The grounds layout is such that the furthest water nozzle is about 550 feet away from the ICC controller and the ROAM receiver. It should be noted that at this point on my property there is a brick garage and some foliage between the ROAM receiver and the furthest water nozzle. To test the ROAM I positioned myself at the furthest point (550 feet from the receiver) and was easily able to start/stop the system. On one of the tests I did have to raise the ROAM transmitter to just above eye level to connect with the receiver but this came as no surprise considering the distance, the garage and the foliage. This unit will make use, testing and maintenance of the irrigation system far easier than it has been in the past. I would give this unit my highest recommendation – it is an excellent device.

This is every body with a good size ( Multi Valve irrigation System ) Must have — I can walk my front back and side yards and with a touch of a button , Activate my valves ! See whats what — Then turn them on/off – One at a time . Checking that all emitters are functioning — I was doing this walking back and forth to my garage — NO Bueno ! Buy this — You wont regret it !

As others have said: how did I get along without it all these years. I’d always dreaded having to go out and check the sprinklers. Inevitably, there are a few that need adjusting and/or replacing and…you know the drill…turn on a station, walk around the yard, find the malfunction, walk back to the controller, turn it off, back to the sprinkler, fix it, walk back, turn it on, not quite right, back again, off, back readjust, back on — I’m exhausted just describing it. Now I just clip this remote to my belt, check out my stations one by one, fix any problems, go for a bike ride. In years past I hated the thought of even checking my irrigation system, knowing that if there was a problem, I was looking at half a day wandering around my yard. Now? No biggie. Just get ‘er done. My only cavil, and it’s pretty minor, is that the buttons could be more clearly marked. It’s not entirely intuitive that, e.g., the little button with the square is the “mode” button or what it does, or what, exactly the up and down arrows are for. But play with it a bit and it all comes clear. Oh, and you don’t need a Ph.D to install it, just a hacksaw (for cutting your PVC to attach the Smart Port) and a screwdriver to connect the low voltage leads. You can find helpful how-to videos on YouTube.

I have a modest 8 zone residential setup. As others have stated this remote makes reviewing and troubleshooting your irrigation system a piece of cake. The only issue I have with it is that when I’m at the far corner of my house it can take several attempts to convince the signal to get through to controller (Hunter PRO-C). This is something they take pains to warn about in the manual so I knew this could happen and it’s not worth dinging the product over. But just a head’s up that if you have many walls between the remote and your controller you may need to be a bit patient at times. Also, something I didn’t fully realize when I bought the unit is that it’s really intended for use by a lawn professional to be carted from installation to installation and plugged into the local controller while they are working on it and then unplugged afterward. I mistakenly thought it was a permanent single installation kind of thing. This is just an FYI that you’ll want to either install this in a weather and sun protected area (as I did) and consider pulling it off your controller when inclement weather arrives.

My controller is in the basement and I do my own repairs and adjustments. Having to go back and for multiple times was a pain! This is a great product and well worth the money!!! Buy one. I have a Hunter Pro-C. Works like a charm. NO downside to this unit – covers all 11 zones on 0.75 acre lot. Controller is in basement and I did NOT need the extended antenna that is optional.
