I originally bought a Rachio, but returned it after it would not run my pump (I draw water from our lake) because the Rachio did not have enough output (amps) to hold the pump relay switch open. It turns out Rachio needs a special low-voltage Munro relay (not just a regular Munro relay), which is hard to find and starts at about $200. The Rachio is probably fine for using city water, but it is lightweight (maybe 1 pound?).This Hunter is built solidly (maybe 10 pounds) and throws out a lot of amps — plenty to run my GE relay switch. I guess that’s why they say it’s commercial quality. The software is great, and the setup was straightforward. The only thing I did not expect was that it requires AC input (the transformer is inside the Hunter controller and it needs AC into it — I bought some 16/3 round electrical cord from a big box store, along with an AC plug, and wired it to the Hunter (about $15). Everything worked well the first time!! I also like that I can add stations pretty simply and not too expensively (in groups of 4, 8, or more).

This rating is for Both the the hardware and the software. I am totally impressed with the capabilities for setting up the irrigation system with the Hunter Hydrawise app.You will have to work through the capabilities, but once you get the hang of it, the versatility is amazing. My irrigation contractor did a fantastic job of installing the controller and wiring it up to our 32 zone HOA. We also installed a rain sensor, flow meter and weather station subscription. I am looking forward to being able to adjust everything remotely, getting alerts if we have a leak and being able to tell how much water we are using in each zone and each day. I could not be happier with this system and can recommend it highly. Tech service response is phenomenal. They reply within a few hours to any question.

5 min snap in replacement that wifi enabled the irrrigation. As we have 24 stations, this was a real time saver when debugging irrigation issues. User interface was easy to program via the phone app. Allows you to snap a picture of the area so no more guessing as to what station controls what. Highly recommended.

The HCC 800 was better for my application as it can handle up to 1200 milliamps compared to just 800milliamps with the Pro-HC model. The Hydrawise software is great, making it easy to run from phone or computer.

This was very easy to install and setup. The unit is designed to hang on a single screw which I felt was not sturdy enough. I ended up drilling an an extra screw through the back of it – was easy to do.
